Pep says it was both the time and the place. He welcome Yale's move away from individual, heroic form-giver architecture to a more collaborative, humane, and irreverent approach. But he lost his direction living in that turbulent time. He remembers Charles Moore as a buddha who was more interested in what you were doing than in teaching you what you should do.

Pep says he would like his legacy to be the effect he had on people around him that he cared about. He would like to be remembered as a reasonably compassionate and good human being.

Pep is longing to build his tiny house in New Hampshire, to travel, to learn Spanish, to read, to play the piano, and to garden. Pep knows old age is not for sissies and he wants to expand—not shrink—his world. When the time comes he plans to exit on his terms.
